Hey all,
anyone have any experience with DD Hammocks?
http://www.ddhammocks.com/
Never heard of them before. Seems pretty good value. I think their combo bivi/hammock looks fun!

although maybe a little heavy (900g).

I bought a Tenth Wonder Green Hornet hammock last year (more for canoe camping) and its great. Use it with a DD 3 x 3 tarp

Fantastic shop, and their customer service is fantastic. Penny gave me great advice in building my setup I used for hiking.
Their stuff can be a bit heavier but given its aimed more at bushcraft and scouts its not too bad. Their ultralight range looks to be a winner though.
Can't say I've used them bikepacking yet as I'm still weighing up practical options but in general they're hard to beat for UK based, provided your idea of a bivi is floating 2ft in the air

Agree very much with HaYWiRe.
Superp customer service. Very good value for money.
Was looking into some other brands, but couldn't justify the price compared to DD.
And their ultralight seems good, haven't had it my hands, but specs seems decent. Make a choice between the front line or travel hammocks if decide to go that way. I took the Frontline, so I can dwell on ground if need be.
The double layer bottom is also brilliant. I normally used under quilt, until I saw a mate shove his sleeping mat in there. Why the feck haven't I thought that. I borrowed his (an exped synmat) and with low inflation I still had the hammocks advantage. Still as warm as with quilt too..
Be aware off your size also. I'm 185 cm and the hammock from DD is short compared to other brands. I fit the Hammock ok, but if I was much (say 5 cm) taller it could be a problem..

Re: DD Hammocks/Tarps??
I have the DD ultralight hammock and think it is very good. It packs very small and light. I do wonder how it supports me sometimes as the fabric is very light...
Check http://www.hammocker.co.uk for reviews of various hammocks and related equipment. It's a good read...
Cheers,

I've had a DD and a Tenth Wonder of similar design ... thought the TW was better.
May the bridges you burn light your way

Re: DD Hammocks/Tarps??
Not used any DD stuff. Always used to be heavy, but cheaper, than other stuff available in UK (e.g. UKHammocks or Tenth Wonder).
I would be a little wary of a waterproof bottom layer as it may suffer condensation issues. Personally, a well pitched hammock with a decent coverage tarp shouldn't need a waterproof base.
Using as a bivi is a nice theory, I think in practice you have to be careful to avoid damage to the structural layer that keeps you off the ground. Not impossible but a potential challenge. Has anyone used a hammock on the ground?

Re: DD Hammocks/Tarps??
I've used my DD hammock on the ground as a sealed groundsheet and net
It worked but then again it was dry (the weather and the ground).
As everyone had mentioned it's good stuff cheap but a little heavy.

I've a DD 3m and a smaller DD tarp, good for bushcraft but not particularly light.
I have their standard hammock too but I've never used it in anger, seems a bit small for me at 6' amd broad. Good hang out space in family camps and my son has slept in it, but he's only 8!
