Scattamah/burty sounds like a plan. I was thinking maybe to leave Friday night grab a beer and food in Habberley and bivvy up on Stiperstones before pootling over to Stu's then go to Mach on Sunday to catch the train back.
And scattamah are you the one doing the high sports local spot on the tour divide in March?

I'll be riding either along the Ridgeway or a nearby road toward Stroud, then into Wales if there's a convoy in that direction. Haven't actually checked the postcode yet but it'll get me fed on the way and meeting up with up with 2 others.

I'll be riding the ridgeway in the other direction.

interested in the shrews convoy, once time/day sorted will see if I can get to shrewsbury on time via train,
it's not that I can and others can't, it's that I will and others won't.

Anyone heading in from the North ?

Well I'm really hoping that I can get back to riding/biving this year. Not really that my knee is any better but I think the pain in my knee is less than the current pain in my soul...

Thiking that I could maybe drive up to yours Scot and ride over with you. Really not sure yet though.Scattamah wrote:Let me know if you're going to keep to that arrangement and there can be a convoy from the east as well :)Mrhoppy wrote:I was looking at riding in from Shrewsbury...

For those of us with commitment issues is there a 'make your mind up' date?
Obviously you need to know how many are coming and special dietary requirements (
) but what will the cut off date be?

I don't know, you don't live too far away from me... would just depend how insane I was feeling at that point in the year.

There'll have to be, although I can't yet say when it'll be. In all honesty, I'd rather it were sooner rather than later - the longer it's left the more chance of people holding back, me saying "okay, so no one's coming" and knocking the whole think on the head ... only to have people then say, "ah but I was going to come"For those of us with commitment issues is there a 'make your mind up' date?

In that case then, I'm coming. Just need to decide how much of an adventure I can manage before getting there.Bearbonesnorm wrote:There'll have to be, although I can't yet say when it'll be. If I were in your shoes, I'd head down the benevolent dictator route and pick an end date for folk to decide which weekend is best for them then another date for them to make a payment. I don't know what the lead times would be for this, leave it too late and you might get a sudden rush of last minute "I can come along" type bookings, too early and you'll have a number of speculative entries that might not turn up.Bearbonesnorm wrote:There'll have to be, although I can't yet say when it'll be. Since I'm doing the YD300 on the 25th/26th, the July date would be my preference. Will have to see if the boss wants to come as well

In my defence M'lud, I claim senility. It's a bit like sanctuary but I'm b***ered if I know where it isBearbonesnorm wrote:For anyone who doesn't read their Bear Bones News email ... like BobSince I'm doing the YD300 on the 25th/26th, the July date would be my preference. Composite - depending on your knee you could always get train to Caersws and ride in which would not be to far.
Not got around to broaching with Mrs B though she may be away then herself giving me a free pass. I could cycle down from Derry to Dublin and get the ferry but I would be on my roadbike. Lighter to carry over the tussocks........

Re: Bearstock the party - what do you want?
In keeping with the cycling in theme but also limited through
Time and fitness(hopefully a lot better by then), I was thinking of
Getting the train some of the distance then riding in. I could come
Via the Bala/ North Wales direction or Welshpool/Shrewsbury way,
However Im not a fan of road cycling so the A470/ A483 route
Doesn't float my boat.....anybody any routes they'd like to share ?
Thanks in advance
Edit; I've looked at Sustrans routes but nothing leaping out,may just
Cobble some Ucr's etc staying mainly off Tarmac.

Be good to see you Neil. You've been missed on the forum and on the rides.
I have 2 plans on getting there - ride from Warwick on the road bike, or an off road route in from somewhere.... Will sort it once everything else this year falls into place.
