Fat Bike Mudguards

I have a MuckyNutz Fat Fender XL up front, and it's fine.

It's the rear that annoys me the most - water gets flicked forward and onto my legs/ into my shoes/ down my gaiters. All the ones I've seen are seat post mounted and don't really stop water being propelled forward.

I have had a 15 mins of googling, to no avail - my google-fu is weak this evening.

Just wondered what people use?

Could you use a seatpost one and doctor a down tube one onto the back of the seatpost?

Might have to trim it here and there?

Pretty sure I've seen* the Mucky Nutz front one used as a rear guard by mounting it on the seat stay bridge. Not sure if was the the fat face or XL version.

Firestarter - thanks, I have one of those on the front and an prototype one in the same position on the rear (without the bend in it), but it doesn't do the job. Is the angled one more effective?

It works OK Ian I don't know how it would compare to yours. It hugs round the tyre nicely so seems to catch a fair bit

I read about this somewhere else: I took a mud hugger mudguard for a 29er and applied some heat from a hairdryer then molded it to fit my fatbike. Works pretty well.

Been thinking about this myself and considering butchering/modifying an SKS Velo 65mm rear mudguard.
The idea is to secure the mudguard using the cross member between the back stays and same on the chain stays.
If you dont have a tapped hole available use pclips looped on the cross piece and secured on the mudguard.
The mudguard is only for the back of the seat tube use a normal rear X Blade type guard for the rest.
You can trim the mudguard to overlap the blade.
Hope that makes sense.

I made something similar to firestarter's pic out of a 6 pint milk bottle, put a couple of holes in and zip tied it to the rear brake bridge It worked well but the plastic is a bit floppy. I've been meaning to make another with some strengthening to stop it bending. i'll post a pic when i get round to it.
