Re: Recommend a carbon 29er frame
Hmm, <fast show>nice</fast show>. That continuous curved top tube/seat stay makes it look somewhat hipster.

Re: Recommend a carbon 29er frame
Ian, I like the look of that. Plenty of room for a frame bag as well
Any experience, or just like the looks?

Re: Recommend a carbon 29er frame
If you'd like another Ramin I have a silly cheap nearly unused frame - Large but more like a Medium in other brands....see classifieds

Re: Recommend a carbon 29er frame
Can you shrink it to a medium? Then I would, large is too big for me

Re: Recommend a carbon 29er frame
Put a slightly shorter stem and push your saddle forward a cm.KBRPro wrote:Can you shrink it to a medium? Then I would, large is too big for me

Mebbe. Cheaper than £1300 that they have a free born?KBRPro wrote:FLV, fancy doing a group buy on the Pivot Les
Large for moi
Re: Recommend a carbon 29er frame
Really regret dithering over one of these when Wiggle were selling them off 'really cheap' a few months ago..FLV wrote:Just been looking at the pivot les. I like.

There was a full bike in large flavour on Pinkbike recently...

The cube reaction gtc can be had frame only for €499, available in all sizes...

Think that'd work out at £370 for a carbon 1200 gram frame. No idea if they are any good like, but just stood out as I was browsing.

None whatsoever, but if I was buying a carbon hard tail, it would be one of those. If it looks right, it probably is rightKBRPro wrote:Ian, I like the look of that. Plenty of room for a frame bag as well![]()

I had (well still have actually, but it's in frame only form right now) a 26er cube reaction gtc sl. First one in the country actually (2010)...MidgeMagnet wrote:The cube reaction gtc can be had frame only for €499, available in all sizes...

Anyway, it was blood lovely in terms of ride, geometry and a well built frame.
Thing is, it was/is carbon, and had/has super tight tolerances. I managed to wear through the frame riding bonty torchbearer 12 - just coz the crank iss so tight against the frame (this was back when triples were all the rage). Anyway, not necessarily a fault of the bike and not really a problem these days with double and single ring being the way most people go today, and in general a lovely bike. Just remember, carbon fibre is not well known for it's abrasion resistance! Anyway, it was a race bike with racing lightweightness... I still did the BB200 in 2013 on it though.

And in it's more natural environment:

And this was how ended up protecting round by the BB/Crank...the factory protector plates weren't enough, and I wore through copter tape quite easily! Already been repaired once before that too...

Yes slightly off topic due to wheel size, but the rest of the information is relevant

Chris Reeves, fascinating stuff with the Cube Reaction. I have one too and the stuck on OEM "protector" behind the chainrings on Drive chainstay fell off. I zipped tied a piece of rubber tube around the area but this wasn't totally satisfactory either. You're not commercialising your home made protection are you?
Notice you have aluminium outer cable housing for rear mech. What is the advantage of this over conventional cable, or is it just aesthetic?
Cheers

No way I'd commercialise that frame protector! Far too time consuming....
Aluminium outer cable doo dah - just purchased because they are reasonable quality, full length inner which I like and makes threading through the inside of a frame quite easy, the modular length is easy and saves constant chopping of cables when fettling, and they're quite light + they do also look quite good! They do take a few goes to index though as each of the outer links has to compress up properly....
