In true Northern style we'll be visiting the Pub on Saturday evening/night, and then theres plenty of options once we're back in Hebden Sunday lunchtime. No need to bring any cooking stuff unless you feel the need to make your own breakfast.Single Speed George wrote:will we need food for tea/ cooking equipment or does evening food at the pub mean on the bivi night or when we get back ?

Re: Northern Winter Bivi
Balls, I'm out. Having vehicular issues (well rust issues, the car is fine broadly speaking, and I don't trust the RX-8 just yet as I only just got that fired up at the weekend..., and 20mpg is no fun on the motorway!) at the moment that I need to sort out, and I dunno how quickly I can learn to weld!
Have fun!

What sort of bivvy set up do people tend to use on these trips do people use tarps and a bivvy bag or just the bag

I think the answer will mostly be dictated by whether or not it's raining ... I'd guess if it's properly grim, the odd tent might even sneak in.What sort of bivvy set up do people tend to use on these trips do people use tarps and a bivvy bag or just the bag

May the bridges you burn light your way
Re: Northern Winter Bivi
I think I'm still free, better check what I still have in the way of winter riding gear though... and maybe see if I can fit my sleeping bags inside each other if it doesn't warm up a bit!
Re: Northern Winter Bivi
Lets hope for dry weather maybe a degrees or 2 warmer I won't be carrying no tent this is my first overnighter so I'm going light

Re: Northern Winter Bivi
I'd be prepared for the worst. It'll either be cold and dry or warm and wet.
If you dont have a tarp you can borrow one from me.
I'd wait until the week before to see what the forecast says and do from there. Forecast is for it to warm up a bit after this weekends frost.

If you're expecting it to be dry and not cold in Calderdale you are in for a really big wake up call....

Re: Northern Winter Bivi
So apart from the cold and the rain what can I expect form this winter bivvy.
What do people wear to ride. Should I bring food stove etc
Is there a specific spot chosen to sleep

then on the top my paramo smock as its the only thing that is super comfy and totaly water proof the bulkyness sis fine as it just ties to the back of my little camel back bnut tbh you dont have to take it off as can open all the vents.

I am planning to come along to this, seeing your list made me realise that despite putting it on my calendar I hadn't actually posted on here
See you next weekend, hopefully for some drier weather!

Yep, still up for it!
Hoping for some drier weather too, although we have to succumb to the lowest common denominator!
You thinking sameish route as last year or you got something new up yer sleeve?
See you in the boozer, I may need that cheeky half!!!!
