Also for Tarps surely Sil Nylon is better and only a few % heavier?
Looks like great work DNF and not trying to piss on your bonfire* as I'm sure at the end of it you'll have the lightest most niche high tech bag in town but for smaller items such as these surely it's the wrong material?

The best thing I have found with Cuben is it's ability to hold a shape. A tarp will weigh about 50% less. The more I'm thinking about the tarp the more I wonder is the effort justified? Issues I see with a tarp revolve around the tension in the guys, glues and tape won't take the pressure, evidence of tearing at 15lb load is low.
But here's the real deal, the Cuben is almost 1.5m wide, And is about £25/m. Now consider that the Terra Nova ultra tarp 1 measures 2.5mx1.5m, cost £280! Work out the maths! It's a ripoff!
Cuben groundsheet for my SilShelter is looking very likely, but using a 19g/m Cuben.
Bag complete weighs 63g, that's for a XL frame, and is a full bag allowing for shock and pivots.
Anyway, it could be a utter disaster and spew it's contents all over Wales! Anyway I've ended up in a strange place of 3g stoves and recycled beer cans!
I did it! Is all I personally care about currently! Will it work?? Who knows! If I finish the bike it will get tested this weekend.
