Re: BB200 Route Details
I don't know on what criteria you're rating it as a Cat 2, but I guess it's either very long, or short and steep, as Wales isn't big enough for long and steep. If the former, just spin a low gear, if the latter, get off and push and it'll be over before you know it, surely? The one bit I'm REALLY not looking forward to is the offroad cat 2 climb. I'm sure it'll be bread and butter to some of the nutters here, but I've got no idea how I'm getting up there.
Re: BB200 Route Details
MapmyRide does it automatically.

As for getting off and pushing. I've been riding with the same gear that I'm taking on Saturday for a few weeks now, and on certain climbs I've literally had to take breaks every few meters (pushing) once I'm tired... though those tend to be the extremely steep off road ones, of which I'm hoping there aren't many.

In reality, that means nowt. Is it's purpose not to allow self congratualtion or admiration from fellow users?

I think, I shall name the climbs, Derek, Albert and Susan in relation to how steep or long they are ... the climb at around 35 miles is a proper Albert.

Hello Stu - I've e-mailed you - No route e-mail waiting for me today, if you could oblige.

It's also a lot of text to say "there are some French words because they have mountains, then it goes 1-5 and we've fiddled with 5 a bit because we could"Bearbonesnorm wrote:In reality, that means nowt.

Actually, now I think about it, maybe we should term the climbs as B'stard, Tw*t and Ooh yer f*cker. Least everyone would be able to picture what they looked like.

Climbs are rated by the gear the support car needs to use to get up it.
So in this case they have no rating

Psh, I've got a 4x4 that says otherwise... before ending up in a river upside down.Fantasticmrmatt (urban fox) wrote:Climbs are rated by the gear the support car needs to use to get up it.

...and yes, I get the point, but I've used the system plenty in the past, and super technical stuff aside, it usually aligns fairly nicely with the climbs that screw me over. I can't say I've been worried by anything sub a 3 for a while, thankfully. That said, on the third day of the WRT everything more than a slight gradient was hell on earth for me.

I'm planning to use my SPOT tracker updating Spotwalla for family and friends to keep an eye on me.
Spotwalla now allows me to upload the route before I start so that they can see where I'm going as well as where I've been.
Thing is I'm not sure whether there is any objection to my making the route visible in this way. I don't want to cause any upset by doing so.
Ok or not OK?
Dave

Re: BB200 Route Details
I'm not getting any height data when I look at the file in bikehike, basecamp or bikeroutetoaster - any ideas?????
The first few km's are ok and then it says it's flat until a few km's before the end which, whilst I'll be more than happy with if it's true, I suspect isn't the case.
Any assistance appreciated.
Cheers, Gairy.

a) Load the route
b) Click "Options"
c) Click "Resample Elevation Data"
Works for me.

Looks like a lot of fun. Some type 1, some type 2 and some of a type we've not seen before......
I think the attitude is "keep riding, and there's a bunch more hills so don't go too hard for the first 120 miles"

Really hope I can make that Chippy! Any idea when it shuts on a Saturday, Drew?welshwhit wrote:Good Spar, local shop, Chippy and Cafe in Llanrhaeadr Ym Mochnant folks. Drew
Street view says there is another SPAR in Glyn Ceiriog @ ~96k called 'Cross Stores' and I think it shuts at 9pm... anybody know if that's true? Would be good to know as a back up!
