So I just looked up some info on caffeine to make sure I didn't eat too much through the night...
...and it turns out I've been having too much of it pretty much every day for the last 20 years.

Apart from that more modern research shows that this will have no effect. Dose response curve for caffeine doesn't work like that sadly. There's actually a negative short term impact from the withdrawal that most people have.
Sorry.
But also, hurrah, have a coffee.

I genuinely have a prior engagement for this coming weekend otherwise I would have put my name forward.
Honest. Really honest.

Anyone else struggling to get the elevation working?
Yup...showing as 2178 ft total ascent in Basecamp here. I'm ignoring that. Distance looks right @ 126 mi.

It looks to be a fairly CX friendly route with the amount of forest tracks and country lanes.
You didn't hear that from me if it all goes horribly wrong

The one bit I'm REALLY not looking forward to is the offroad cat 2 climb. I'm sure it'll be bread and butter to some of the nutters here, but I've got no idea how I'm getting up there.
Vaguely related, is there actually any good way of carrying a bike which has a frame bag in it? I tried a few methods on the weekend but they all went horribly wrong.

If in doubt, carry (although I think you've probably figured that out). Consider putting your kit in your saddle bag/fuel tank/bar bag and skip the frame bag if you're worried about how to carry it. Otherwise, push in the traditional fashion.

I have a SS, just lacking the legs to propel it properly over that sort of distance
Besides, I've done it four years running on a SS, so I'm due a year off

Also a toilet block in Llanrhaeadr on the square....thats triangle.... and the spar shuts at 10 pm. Greatorex - the other shop, more chance of being open after 10pm, but this varies!
As for water, plenty of pubs and streams along the route, normal rules apply for the streams, but most are fine
I'll have a proper look and post if any other good sources come to mind

OOh... wouldn't mind that chippy as a bit of a reward. Am even tempted to push up my planned average speed so as to get to it!

I'd fix the comfy one as 24+ hours on a cross bike you're going to take a battering.
