Re: BB200 Route Details
Aim to stick to the line Richard ... or somewhere near. I checked the route one last time this morning and apart from the odd wiggle couldn't see any dropped bollocks. There are a couple of places where the route doesn't follow the obvious track or whatever on the map and a couple of places where it follows exactly what's on the map yet there'll be nothing on the ground.
May the bridges you burn light your way

Re: BB200 Route Details
The hell is the part around mile 38 where it looks like someone painted the scenery on?
...and where's the trail!?!
Edit - Maybe the app I'm looking at the trail on has simplified the route. Will have a look in some others.

Re: BB200 Route Details
I have noticed that there are a significant number of places to pray... and drink.

Re: BB200 Route Details
Luckily I havent ridden this part of the world, so I havent a clue what it is going to be like - 550m of climbing you say ? Should be fine ......
Re: BB200 Route Details
Ooh... just found a pub for around 9pm. Wonder if getting drunk will help me survive the night?

Re: BB200 Route Details
So I think I've found a river crossing... at 2am for me. I bloody hope that it's just I can't see the bridge on the satellite.
Re: BB200 Route Details
I'm half tempted not to look at the route at all and just wing it on the day (and mostly likely, night too)
Re: BB200 Route Details
Compared to the last BB200 I did, that's what I'm doing.Ian wrote:I'm half tempted not to look at the route at all and just wing it on the day (and mostly likely, night too)
I've also just booked myself into a Premier Inn the night before

I'm getting soft! (I say with rigid forks this year because I still haven't rebuilt my bouncy forks...)
Re: BB200 Route Details
Before I commit to not looking at the route, could someone confirm which of the following bike set ups looks most reasonable:
Drop bar gravel bike, discs, 2x10, 40c WTB Nano tyres.
Fat bike, discs, 1x10, 4" Maxxis Mammoth tyres
Ta :)

Well damn... have finished going through the route and I'm pleasantly surprised. Still apprehensive, but not nearly as apprehensive as I was.

Re: BB200 Route Details
It looks to be a fairly CX friendly route with the amount of forest tracks and country lanes.Ian wrote:Before I commit to not looking at the route, could someone confirm which of the following bike set ups looks most reasonable
You didn't hear that from me if it all goes horribly wrong

Re: BB200 Route Details
I may well also be hoping for a CX friendly route. my MTB has stubbornly not fixed itself despite sitting on the workstand for a full month now.
is a 26 inch full sus (no rear lockout) MTB choice or my trusty CX bike to carry my 95kg & clothes and bags (there's a lot of timber this year).
will the CX do or do I need to get wrenching furiously (and testing) on the MTB?

Re: BB200 Route Details
the new stooge arrives Monday /Tuesday next week .
I think that's 4 days to late .
but at least when I start shouting and swearing at the bike this weekend. it should be able to take a good beating.
and come back undamaged
