Sometimes when I'm riding (and walking) I can find it quite difficult to actually stop. I think it's the thought of what might be round the next corner or over the brow of the next hill that keeps me pedaling ... a superb view, great hidden overnight spot, etc. I don't find it happens much when I'm riding places I know ... maybe I'm just too curious (nosey)
I tend to have the opposite problem...often clock watching near the end of long rides as I invariably have a curfew to meet so I can help put the children to bed etc. I do enjoy the occasional day when I can stay out late though & don't have to worry about the time...usually the overnighters.
Rather like pedal head my rides are usually stolen around young kids duties or commuting based so rarely have to oppurtinity to just keep going and see what's round the next corner. Lookinforward to the wrt tho to change all that :)
Yup,
I'm a can't stop pedalling type of guy too for pretty much the same reasons. Even when I know the route really well I still want to push on and carry the adventure on.
On a similar topic, do you guys get ridiculous songs in your heads on long rides? I've had far too many 8+ hour rides with "Maybe it's because I'm a Londoner" in my head. Which is particularly bizarre, as I'm in no way actually a Londoner
