Ferry across the Mersey?
Ferry from IOM lands back in Liverpool at 19.15 so the ferry across the river will have stopped for the day ... what's the options for cycling across the river? Realistically, am I better / safer heading east and crossing on the trans pennine trail?

Get the train, mersey rail ate ace and let anyone on their trains. I've gone on with my fat bike many a time at rush hour and they don't bat am eyelid. Also fine for the underground bit, if only all train companies were the same

Head to James Street station.
Get in the lift with your bike, catch the next train and head west.
Get off at Hamilton Square
Or take the right train all the way to Chester to get you nearer home and in a better bivi spot in more countryside

Try to avoid peak times too as the trains can be rammed and the bike space usually ends up being used for buggies/prams/suitcases etc.
