Got the bike all loaded and ready the other day, intending to head out Tuesday or Wednesday night and despite both being beautiful days, there was heavy rain forecast in the evenings. I admit I canned it on Tuesday as the forecast proved accurate, but decided yesterday that it was now or never, the threat of rain heavy in the air come early evening.

But as luck would have it the threat never materialised until I was tucked up into my tent, which I was happy to learn remained watertight...

I learnt a few things on my first trip.
1) Getting the pressure right on an Exped Shnozzle pump pillow is a right faff. It was like 2 hours wrestling a jellyfish until I let out enough air. Good for blowing the mat up though.
2) Sheep make some disconcertingly human sounding noises during the night.
3) if you don't get the amount of liquid right in the wee sachets of porridge oats, you end up eating watery frog spawn for breakfast.
4) 2001 Plantation Rum is a lovely drop to enjoy in an outdoor setting.
5) and most importantly the weather can't always dictate play...
A great way to start a working day!
