Meth's Efficiency
What is efficient for boiling a mug of water? Volume of meths and time? 15ml and 5-6minutes?

Depends a lot on the stove. I use a white box style stove and your estimates are not far off. In reality in rarely just boil a cup of water more like 2-3 cups and that probably takes 10 minutes.
Time would be better spent getting the miles in instead of fretting about how many ml of meths to carry...

Re: Meth's Efficiency
After many years of thorough and scientific fannying about ... I'd say 450ml of cold water to a rolling boil using 15-20ml of fuel in under 4 minutes is almost magical. 4-6 minutes is fairly good and anything more than 6 minutes is pretty steady (but will often use less fuel).
May the bridges you burn light your way

I'm getting some times out of the keg stove that I'm pretty pleased with. Hitting around 5 mins, and zero priming time. It's not far off gas.

DNF, since the conception of this forum you've been gradually converted from tents to tarps and from gas stoves to meths. The conversion from bikes with small wheels to 29ers is still work in progress, but deep down you know it makes senseI'm getting some times out of the keg stove that I'm pretty pleased with. Hitting around 5 mins, and zero priming time. It's not far off gas.

Haha, my background of outdoor stuff meant meths wasn't on my radar, petrol stoves for cold misery. I bought the keg stove as it weighs sod all. I bought a tarp, now just experimenting, I still love tents more! The 29 issue, when I built the Salsa last year I'd just got carbon fibre suspension at a great deal, 29er didn't happen. Just built one for a mate, but it's too small for me to ride, arse! So this week I went to look at Spearfish, problem I have is the spec is crap! To get better spec than the Ala Carte, I'm going to have to spend a huge amount, and I honestly don't know if I can be arsed with yet another money pit being built! We shall see, although I did look at fat bikes, they do look fun!!! Plus, I've just blown a load of money on some really nice gear! I've got to smash my gear weight through the floor
