Good Friday Welsh Adventure
So it looks like we're on!
Multiple passes have been gained and stamped in triplicate. (me, Ian, Steve, Flatfishy & poss VD so far)
Plan is somewhere in the Black Mountains, Ian is in charge or route :)
How's a midday start sound, pootle pace?
All are welcome

Re: Good Friday Welsh Adventure
I'm still a possible, but more than likely turning up( I just have to be a good boy).
Edit: The boss has just informed me I may be able to go but I've to be back for 2pm(in Brizzle) as were more than likely to be skiing in the southern Alps on the Sunday. Subject to her booking it.

Re: Good Friday Welsh Adventure
I'm still good for this - is it going to be a typical Ian route?
Re: Good Friday Welsh Adventure
For those that make it out on the Good Friday Welsh Adventure there will be 6 pairs of Ultra light spoons and knives to be given away. As you can see by the picture, a whole 5 grams for the pair(couldn't lay my hands on forks, sorry).

Re: Good Friday Welsh Adventure
As in beautiful weather, vaguely exciting trails and fantastic views, right?is it going to be a typical Ian route?

stevemorg,
out of purely unselfish concern for others i think that you should take it easy on this ride as i'd hate to think of something bad happening to (my soon-to-be new bike) you out there.

Gairy,
trust me - I always take it easy!
am scouring the classifieds for an Inbred/456/Genesis Latitude/P7 as we speak!

How does meeting midday somewhere in Brecon sound?
Need to be somewhere I can dump the car.

How far do people want to ride?
Anyone got commitments to be back on Saturday by a certain time?

Re: Good Friday Welsh Adventure
I need trees for my hammock and I need to be back in Bristol for no later than 1pm(back in Brecon for noon I suppose) as I think I'm off to the Alps with the sprogs to learn to ski. That's subject to the wife booking it.
Re: Good Friday Welsh Adventure
No point going mad

Re: Good Friday Welsh Adventure
Brecon OK for me - happy to fit in with others but I'm off up to Twyn on Sunday with the family so couldn't cope with too much of a beasting!
Re: Good Friday Welsh Adventure
Steve, are you hanging out or sleeping on the floor with the peasants?
Re: Good Friday Welsh Adventure
/scratches summit of Waun Fach off list.../I need trees for my hammock
Some people are soo picky

Wasn't going to make it a huge ride by any measure - just wanted to make sure we have enough time to do the best bits, and the start/ finish point is therefore important.

He's a PITA at times with these trees

May the bridges you burn light your way
Re: Good Friday Welsh Adventure
Happy to swing or crash on the floor - whatever works
Re: Good Friday Welsh Adventure
I'm pretty much a dead cert now, but I've no idea where in Brecon we're meeting.
Re: Good Friday Welsh Adventure
Neither do I. Currently re-evaluating route options after todays fall of snow :?
Re: Good Friday Welsh Adventure
How much snowage have you had?
Re: Good Friday Welsh Adventure
Difficult to say from here how deep it is, but it's down to about 250m.
The upper trails are likely to be reasonably thick.

Re: Good Friday Welsh Adventure
Ian where's good to dump a car and meet up? Morrisons?
Re: Good Friday Welsh Adventure
Morrisons have a two hour limit
Re: Good Friday Welsh Adventure
The car park by the Cathedral is your best bet. SO 043290.
Re: Good Friday Welsh Adventure
just thinking about packing - looks like I'll need my warmer sleeping bag though! Is the bivi site likely to be suitable for a hammock or am I better off with a mat, bivi bag and tarp?
