The yellow dots are the ones riding individual time trials and didnt start at the same time as the group start.
The few blue dots near the bottom are doing the route northbound.

3 riders beyond Butts Cabin on the first day, 200+ miles in and riding past 2am. Big ride for the first day. One is Brit Andy Laycock. http://racingthedivide.com/
Looks like Andy and Dylan bivied there near the cabin, Alex H is still riding.

I'm trying to recall his frame ... did it have a seperate hanger or is it integral? If it's seperate, I assume he'll be carrying a spare?

Hard to tell but is it actually the frame that's bent?

It is quick out front for a number of riders. Mike Hall reached the border in just under 24 hours in '13 though so not the fastest start. But a big number of riders there so should be a great race to watch. Even Lael appears to be near to JayP's full course record pace.

Greetings folks,

First post here. Very nice to greet ya. Had to pester Stuart for access, so thank you Stuart!

Heard from Scattamah (my better half) this morning. Talked to him while he was running through the boarder. He's sounding tired, but I can hear the smile in his voice so he's still grinning. This is good news.

June 11, he cycled from Calgary to the startline in banff... Did NOT use the sunscreen I forced him to buy, and carry, so he got near third degree burns on his legs pre-race. :-bd

Day 1, June 12, missed a turn and crashed. Says it was at speed. He sent me a photo of his leg. Looks like a bramble bush tried to catch his downward sprawl, but its grip just wasn't enough... So his leg looks like it's been mauled by a cougar. He's bringing home all the good memories!

He was passed twice by ambulance. Sounds like he was right behind David Silverander. Scott mentioned David's front forks failed and his front wheel went one way and David, and his bike went another. Post from bike packing forum mentioned it looks like David is going to be ok, but I haven't seen any other word on his progress.

Day 2, June 13, spirits are high, speed is not, although he's coming into the heat of the day. Looks like he's chasing the 20 day race marker. He's going to try for whitefish this evening. Bike was running good when I talked to him. Apparently the mud is giving grief to a lot of drive trains this year. It's a good thing he learned about it last year and is keeping his drivetrain clean this time around.

That's all the news I have at the moment. I did pester Scott to do another call in while he had phone services. It's hard to hear him when the phone doesn't have optimal cell strength. Will try and keep everyone updated.

Cheers

Thanks for update Kattamah. I see Gabe is between the Whitefish and Red Meadow divide. A couple of sources of water there if needed. Quite a pull up RM though I recall clearing it, just, in 2013. Likely to be snow this early in the year. This is what Red Meadow pass looks like; your models are Glen Carter who is just ahead of Scattamah and Chew:

They will be coming into the photo along the trees on the left of the photo.

The top of the picnic bench in the picture above was only just poking out of the snow last year :???:

Chicken Legs - I often wonder if an ITT later in year can be quicker as on normal years there are a few snow hikes early on. In 2011 we missed this as snow was to deep and we joined route just south of Red Meadow lake.

Blackhound - ITT later in the year would certainly have been quicker than the first 7 days in 2014, but I can't complain as I was OK for
the following 2 weeks.
I found the picnic table picture !

This link will find the picture, not quite what I wanted but hey ho !
