2 very small pieces of machined aluminium in the form of some AEST brake levers to try and bring down the overall weight of my cable discs, it's worked! 100g saved on my levers alone, and they've actually improved the feel of the brakes to boot, very happy

They were about £30 on eBay, there's lots available. Make sure you get the newer ones with the separate pivot bolt and clamp bolt (the old ones shared it and it meant the pivot was too tight whilst the bar clamp too loose). When they arrive, you'll think they feel so fragile they'll break straight away, once they're on and adjusted they feel very solid and powerful

Ref the quilt, I ordered mine from a German site yesterday as the same price as Cumulus's site and cheaper carriage as well. It should be here this time next week.

Cumulus say they can't ship to the UK because of an agreement with their distributor who own labels their stuff but doesn't bring in the quilts.
But they told me that they will be dealing in the UK some time in 2016

I've always been a meths girl at heart as I've been a fan of trangias long before I started playing with light weight meths stoves.

I still use the trangia for family trips - but have to admit the pan size can be a bit of the small side when I have a lot of mouths to feed . . . . Until now that is! Saw this whilst searching for something else. It's a 4l trangia Billy kettle and fits over the cooker like the frying pan does.

Will give it a trial run tonight :)

53cm Van Dessel WTF, just for the name alone, almost
Looks a little low at the front, which given I have a bad neck is what I was hoping not to have to deal with. Plenty of stearer tube but am hoping to get away with not too many spacers, just 'cos it's not a very elegant solution. The pics on the website were of last years model, which is what I thought I was getting, which is a dark green/metalic affair. Looked OK but I really wanted the bare metal/clearcoat frame that came out this year, imagine my delight when that's what turned up, a bit tarty I know but you would, wouldn't you?!
PF30, putting a Praxis or Beer Components EBB in, so I can run my new Mr Whirly 165s, 30/40
Hope hubs, probably 650-40/50mm for touring. Pacenti rims maybe, haven't decided yet, open to suggestions. I have a Shimano 700c wheelset in the meantime and as winter wheels. Thomson post/stem and a brooks C15, woodchippers/105 levers and transmission, finally BB7 brakeset. Most of it in boxes scattered around the flat, just need a few things to get the ball rolling.
The plan is to have it ready for a shakedown ride before heading to Spain for the Via de la Plata in Oct/Nov sometime.
