Hi, up until a couple of days ago I had no idea what the WRT was, since then I've read the info page http://bearbonesbikepacking.co.uk/WelshRideThing/ and plenty of posts on here.
I "think" I'd be very interested in joining the 2016 event, but I was wondering, does anyone have any strava ride info on a WRT route? Just so I can gauge whether or not it's something I'd be able to do? I'd hate to get there and realise the first hill destroyed my legs for example. I know I've got plenty of time to prep and train etc, I was just curious as to what to expect.
Thanks

Prep, maybe. Train, no.I know I've got plenty of time to prep and train etc, I was just curious as to what to expect.
From my lofty position I was fortunate enough to see just about every returning rider this year and was able to speak to many ... although I apologise if I didn't catch you (but you probably had a lucky escape). The one thing that's obvious is the shear diversity of riders. Experience, equipment, fitness are all different, some people rode well over 100 miles, others rode 20. Some bivvied on windswept moorland, some had a hot shower in a B&B. The WRT is very much a personal thing and will be whatever YOU decide it is. Looking at someone elses route profile on Strava will tell you nothing at all ... looking at pictures of people smiling, laughing and enjoying themselves, will tell you all you need to know.
EDIT: having just re-read the above, I realise it sounds a bit like hippy dipshit bollox but it's not ... it really is true

Sounds good! I'm all up for hippy dipshit bollox. I'm assuming the whole thing is off road? As in proper off road, not CX / road bike doable? Not an issue, as I do have a semi-decent hardtail, it's just that all my bike packing prep etc so far is for my road bike
Re: WRT info
And laugh we did...we learnt that in the old days, people died at Nant Syddion due to lack of hot chips

Totally CX doable, I guarantee

Re: WRT info
I reckon you could do a 'road bike' version and still have a great time.
When we hit tarmac some of those roads were just as stunning and oh so smooth...

What have the Welsh Assembly ever done for us?
Well, there is the resurfacing of unused backroads......

Re: WRT info
Only if you decide to make it such ... you could decide to do the whole thing on road if you liked. The 'sensible' probably choose a little of everything (singletrack, tarmac, fire road, doubletrack, death-march) and just alter the amount of each, to suit their requirements.I'm assuming the whole thing is off road?
