Tyre choice for WRT

Post by Cornish Neil »

I'd appreciate advice on tyre choice for the WRT. I usually run knobblies, at the moment a pair of Nobby Nics on my XC bike.
I'm wondering whether semi slicks may be better for a few events I've signed up for this year, including the WRT. Thinking about something like Schwalbe Fast Fred Light. Any advice appreciated.
Time would be better spent getting the miles in instead of fretting about how many ml of meths to carry...

Thanks, but not sure where you are trying to point me to? This seems to just take me to single track front page?
Sorry if I'm being a bit thick :?

Wales is a wet place, could be sunny, Fred's are fast, a pair has zero grip on anything but dry trails.

Hmmm I'll have to keep a close eye on the weather
Maybe a pair of Racing Ralph's (which I already have) would be more suitable.

I've shagged two Nobby Nics on previous WRTs (or it might have been one WRT and one Dyfi Enduro) so I won't be using them (or any Schwalbe) again.

I used Rocket Rons on the WRT and they were fine.

There are quite a lot of grassy rural hilly trails.

There is a high probability of it being wet.
