As with so much in life, standards aren't actually standards until everyone adopts them ... the fill-power of down is another good example.
However, most people tend to use mats made in the US, so we can directly compare a NeoAir Xtherm against a Nemo Zor or Exped Synmat against a Big Agness Clearview ... I can't understand why Multimat don't quote the same data as 80% of other sleeping mat manufacturers ... surely their mats would look brilliant in comparison

Arghh, don't mention down! That was a nightmare to explain to customers
Guess multi mat should follow Rabs idea with down and just use the America system to get the higher rating

Working in science reveals nicely what a pain in the arse imperial units are. Just because some (possibly majority) use the wrong units I doesn't make them right... Why wrong? Because experts around the world agreed to define SI for very good reasons. See Fahrenheit for good measure... no wonder it's not a SI unit.
