What size frame have you ordered and how talk are you? I'm thinking of going for the 17.5 frame I'm 5' 8" with shortish legs/longish bodyFantasticmrmatt wrote:Ordered one
29" here I come.......
Re: Genesis Longitude
17.5"
Re: Genesis Longitude
17.5 will be way too small for you Matt.

Re: Genesis Longitude
Would Sir be needing a frame bag to go with that?Fantasticmrmatt wrote:Ordered one

I can't guarantee that your existing one will fit

If my current one doesn't fit surely it's warranty

Re: Genesis Longitude
My initial instinct would say the 16 inch model but the long body may sway that. What's your inside leg?scott of the woods wrote:What size frame have you ordered and how talk are you? I'm thinking of going for the 17.5 frame I'm 5' 8" with shortish legs/longish bodyFantasticmrmatt wrote:Ordered one

I tend to downsize myself of mountain bikes (5ft 7 and both salsas are 15 inch) for extra standover

Re: Genesis Longitude
I'm a similar height with short legs and monkey arms but would only consider the 16". I tried a Knard on a Rabbithole rim in the front of my Gryphon and it felt like it raised the front end by a good few inches, so I would imagine that with similar front and rear the standover would be quite high?
Re: Genesis Longitude
I'll check the small print, but I'm not sure a different frame geometry counts as a defect in work(wo)manshipFantasticmrmatt wrote:If my current one doesn't fit surely it's warranty

Re: Genesis Longitude
went to be fitted for a Longitude today and am on the borderline for 19" on reach but looking at the spec it has a reet short stem at 31.8mm so i should be ok with the 19". does anyone have trouble putting stem cells on a with this short a stem?
PS all sizes are sold out from Madison except the 19"

Re: Genesis Longitude
Pretty sure 31.8mm is the clamp size, not stem length?Mpolo wrote:went to be fitted for a Longitude today and am on the borderline for 19" on reach but looking at the spec it has a reet short stem at 31.8mm so i should be ok with the 19". does anyone have trouble putting stem cells on a with this short a stem?

Re: Genesis Longitude
My head hurts from the use of the L word and a thousand suggestions of how it would work so well with his latest acquisition - a Rohlof built into a 29" wheel. Considering the fact that his current bike has 26" wheels, and suddenly has become too small. I can only guess that Beth over in Wildcat World will be getting a new order for a frame bag.
The frame only option comes in a single choice of colours - putty. Dan wants green. What can I say.
These are the numbers Mpolo was working from:

Re: Genesis Longitude
Yeah, as Ben says 31.8 indicates the stem / bar diameter not the length. All the pics I've seen would indicate something along the lines of a 80mm - 90mm stem is fitted as standard.

Re: Genesis Longitude
I've got a 29" inside leg, and now looking at the data sheet above the tt length of the 16" looks closer to my old 17.5" frame, i think i'll have a word with my lbs and try out the 16" and the 17.5"voodoo_simon wrote:My initial instinct would say the 16 inch model but the long body may sway that. Re: Genesis Longitude
Went and got sized up for one at the weekend. I'm 6'3. Guy reckoned fit wasn't weird, and that I'm normal shaped. Was a def 20.5 for me.

Re: Genesis Longitude
I'd consider the 16" ... I had a go on a 17.5" and it felt very long.5'8"
Have you had a word with Shona and Rich at Keep Pedalling?

Re: Genesis Longitude
I'm 5'8" and use the 16" frame, photo below in test bicycle for a overnighter running 29+ Maxxis Chronicles,
using the Genesis swoop back bars so the stem is a 90mm if I remember,
the seat post has maybe about 1-1.5" left in the tube before it hits the max out line
I find it a really good fit and I would say I'm average build
