The new ones are reinforced but I just gotta ask if anyone is using them and are they still snapping at the worst possible moment. Or should I get a couple of them there Free Parable Gorilla cages?

God that is gopping. Not that I can find them for sale anywhere though. I reckon it needs a broader base too, or a strap underneath.

If you've got 3 mounts then I'd certainly get a Gorilla, the QR capability is very handy ... and they have a strap at the bottom :-bd

I used the V2 metal ones on a tour in Iceland last summer and they worked fine. Had my kitchen kit on one and the repair kit bag on the other. The weld is much better/longer then the V1 cages if I recall.

I've been using the V2 cages on my bivvy trips last year and they were absolutely fine with no issues.
