Whilst not directly bikepacking gear I thought some might appreciate this.....
I bought a shiny new carbon fatbike fork for my Mukluk but totally failed to realise that the Enabler fork and Salsa front hub are spaced for a rear brake calliper whilst my new fork is spaced for a normal front brake calliper.
So.....as I attempted to fit my new lightweight toy I was stumped by a 4.8mm misalignment between the calliper and the rotor.
Spacers are available (in the US) and an adapter (that requires stepping up to a 180mm rotor) is currently on it's way from CTBM but I wanted to ride it straight away so I set to work on some light engineering/metal work.
It's 0.2mm thicker than it should be (2 x 2.5mm plates).
Have since found out that not only are those fatbike specific spacers available in the uk but also that CRC do some generic hope ones that would work and are cheap as chips!
On top of that someone else said they used presta valve nuts which would be free, take minutes and with 1/100th of the thing I made.
