frame bag info req
want to get the frame bag for my stooge but think it would be better with 2 compartments, tools in the bottom bit, whatever in the top,has anyone used a single zip and regretted not having 2 compartments, or vice versa, these things arn,t cheap so would like to see what other peoples experiences have been to help make my mind up, and try to get it right first time,
it's not that I can and others can't, it's that I will and others won't.

As usual, it depends...
Size of frame, what you're packing, how big each compartment would be etc, each affect the pros and cons.
Dual compartments are useful for segregating gear, e,g, food or "day" stuff in the top, fuel, stove, tools etc in the bottom. But, if you have any large items like sleeping mat, pans and such like, you might not be able to pack quite as efficiently as a single compartment.
Single compartments give you the ability to pack rolled stuff vertically, which can be quite efficient; sleeping mat, tarp, bivvy bag etc. This can still give you a good degree of organisation of gear, and small stuff fits around it.
For the Stooge specifically, the frame is long and low, and so favours a single compartment. A double would leave you with two restrictive spaces IMO. Because of the long length of the bag, the single gives you a good opening into the bag (something that can be an issue for dual Cpts, where the zip on the lower isn't very long).
Andy & Beth are finalising the prices on the Wildcat/Stooge bag which will soon be available to preorder based on a single compartment/ map pocket/ hose port configuration. You could order a fully customised one at any time though, if you wished.

I'd probably go for 2 next time, to have a divider that prevented 'settling' and any bulging as well as less digging about to get things out. I have a large bag that has a vertical divider and one zip, works well in trial packing but it was made a bit big / wide and heavyweight for what I've done so far.has anyone used a single zip and regretted not having 2 compartments,
This is good for packing tight and preventing rattles.Single compartments give you the ability to pack rolled stuff vertically,

My Alpkit frame bag separates from two into one - the partition velcros in and out of position.

Not that Ian needs his knowledge validated by me of all people but "what he said". My Fatty is a similar design and I went for just one compartment so my pole fits in it. On my Fargo with a bigger triangle I cram all my tools in the bottom section that hopefully won't be needed and all the stuff I use regularly in the top.

Re: frame bag info req
thanks for the info, looked at the frame ian as you say long and low, also looked at what i,ll be putting in it so a single may be the better option, not got that many tools so a tube bag or stem cell would hold them,

I prefer single compartment too. storing vertically seems to work better for me.
