More misadventures in stoving.

A while ago AW mentioned that she had a miniture espresso maker and needed a stove for it, this weekend she brought it with her. I was told that the flame needs to be kept on the bottom of the 'pot' ... no flame spill allowed, so I retired to the workshop and this is the result.

It's a 2 piece stove, the top acts as a support and diffuser. The stove is double-walled but the jets are internal (think of it as a back to front 8g stove), there's an air gap between the stove and diffuser which allows extra air to be drawn into the 'combustion chamber' producing a chimney effect ... plenty of heat but only a small flame

Final test and a polish up tomorrow then in a box with Gwyn the post. I'll get some more pics of it in action up tomorrow.

Here we go then, first pretend espresso.



Two part stove and tiny espresso maker.



Add 10ml of meths to the centre of the stove and light it.



Wait 30 seconds and it'll start to bloom from the jets I'm doing a poor job of pointing at.



Put the top of the stove on and you're good to go. You can see the blue ring of flame caused by air being drawn in through the gap between the top / bottom of the stove. Without it, the stove will run too rich / yellow / sooty.



Add your 'coffee machine' and wait a minute.



Seconds before it did its thing ... I managed to miss that bit All told it took about 2.5 minutes from lighting to finished brew. The stove tips the scales at 21g but the espresso maker comes in at 230g ... oh well

The espresso pot was a gift and i will put it to use as it would be rude not to, would be a luxury item for more leisurely trips out to be fair at that weight but nothing wrong with a bit of luxury now and again.

I'm aiming to get out and do something on the 24/25 - not sure what yet but it would be a good time to give it a proper testing
