Shindig 2015 - help/thoughts wanted

Post by zigrat »

Most people that came seemed to enjoy themselves, which was undoubtedly helped by the weather.
I'm wondering if there's a need for a bigger loop to cater for the more ambitious rider though ?

So what I'm proposing for this year is to have a big and wee shindig. The wee one will be more or less the same as last year.
The big one will be around 200 miles long with around 20 000 feet of climbing (maybe more) and involve a boat trip too.

What do people think ?

Also is the first week of September a good date for everyone ?

Thanks

Bryan

It was a great event and I'd be up for anything as long as it attracts the same sort of people ;-)

I think part of the success of this ride was that it was on the whole a group ride and bivi.

The highlights for me were getting to ride out with some new people then share a bivi spot and a fire .. even got a beer.

It would be cool to see the focus still on something social... just my thoughts as usually by that time of year I have kicked my own head in enough :)

That car park we stayed at was a perfect spot and would definitely cope with a few more folk at it. Perhaps an early start on the Saturday morning for those that wanted to get a longer ride in, then all catch up somewhere later on?

I do like the idea of a longer loop though, which we need to test out sometime anyway

Bryan - Thanks for organising - a repeat of 2014 would be good for me (esp. the weather).

Most of those there would have missed the sun set over Loch Lomond .....

Glad I waited around for the moment

Your race your rules! (i know its not a race...)

it sounded great last time round, I'd have liked to have come but had already made plans for that weekend. Like you say there is not so many social, more laid back events on the calendar. It sounded like it worked perfectly so I'd be inclined to think that as it ain't broke don't try to fix it :)

Thanks for the input so far.
Sounds like the majority vote is for "social" and that's good.
Personally I think I'll go for social with a bit more mileage - suspect Al Mc and Ian B will join me for that..
