I thought if was really enjoyable and nice to see the minimalist attitude to cycle events.

Yet to watch it yet, but that's the route I loosely based my summer trip upon.

I'm considering riding the route next summer with a mate. Is it worthy of an inclusion on Self Supported UK if we ITT it?

It's an interesting question, I think no as its a road based route. Not sure I think that yhough!

it has already been ridden under audax rules. There are a set of rules for riding DIY audax on the audax uk site you could record and submit it that way.

I only saw half the programme but it looked an amazing journey how ever you ride it :-)

Thats what I was thinking about but I'd forget about SS UK & ITT and just ride it for the hell of it.

If completion within the AUK rules and regs doesn't seem challenging enough  , you can always make your own set of rules to give it more of a performance-focus. Something along the lines of the Cyclos Montagnards challenges/honours maybe... http://cyclosmontagnards.org/WhatAreCM.html

I'm sure that did play a big part in their ride.

They admitted as much when one of the riders said he was struggling and the other two were pulling him along.

Wasn't there another chap who said he jumped on the back of the 3 Swedish chaps and doubled his speed?

I was hoping to try a very long audax in 2015 but there is nothing over 600km in the UK in 2015 (all geared to PBP I suppose). I have this route on my mind as a 'permanent' audax and all being well might go for it around the time of the HTR in order to see the start.

Amazing program and truly inspiring.

It's on the list and generated a load of email chat today so I reckon it will happen at some point

The weather was stunning but I wouldn't fancy having to contend with the bugs!!

This was my past life!

I haven't yet got round to watching the prog but I have a reasonable idea of what it will show as Chris n, me and another mate Toby rode our own 1300k DIY audax route around scotland in May 2010. I also know the 2014 organiser Mark having discussed his proposed route at the start of 2013 and advised him against multiple ferry crossings!

Here's my write up in the Audax mag in 2011 (pages 56-58):
