What route are you thinking of taking to Peebles?

I am hoping to drop a bag or two of coal off at the bothy at some point so we don't have to look for wood. I will hide it of course so it won't get used by someone else.

I don't know actually. I rode there and back on Friday night and there are several options. My outward route was Carlops by road and farm track to the A701, fire road through the forest towards Eddleston and then join the cross borders drove road into Peebles.

Return I left the black just after the Goat Track, then climbed out of Glentress and descended to Kidston, cross the main road and climbed again to rejoin the drove road, taking it back via Cloich to West Linton.

Link is http://www.strava.com/activities/219288382 although we took a lot of road at the end as it was very quiet and the route via the Borestane would be mucky.

So, plans for Saturday then? I'll probably be burning off a hangover en route but will likely leave Balerno around 11 if we're saying 2:30 at a Peebles pub, allowing enough time for a Tesco supply run if necessary.

I too am cycling down but am leaving at ten so will just meet at the pub. Hopefully doing a coal drop on Friday.

Who else is intending to turn up?

I'm out.
Combination of job interview preparation for Monday and lack of childcare.

Have a good one.

Just me on my own unfortunately.

Heavy snow shower forecast for Peebles on Sunday - excellent!

Afraid I've gone from a 'yes' to a 'maybe probably not' - put my back out and am currently struggling to walk. It is only muscular rather than nerve but I don't yet know if it will be Sat, Sun or Mon before it is OK

Sorry to hear that Jamie, let me know when you know what your doing.

Delivered to the bothy today -

1 bag dry kindling
2 bags of coal
1 bottle of Morgans spiced rum
1 Christmas pudding, serves 4 (or 1 cyclist  )

Guess I will have to carry everything else I need on the bike.

If I'm not at the pub I'll see you at the bothy. I'm out on my Christmas night out so will be along to the bothy by teatime at worst case - will take the direct route from Edinburgh.

OK, I may take the direct route from Peebles, still go through Cardrona Forest but then straight to the bothy.

Jamie's cancelled as his back has not improved so I shall be skipping the pub and going straight to the bothy via Cardrona, hopefully see you there Alasdair. If you don't make it I will still have fun as I love a good blaze.

Apologies for not making it out. I was wiped out last night and couldn't face the ride down.

 Office Christmas parties often have that effect. I still had a good time, just back in the house now.
