If you had around £50 to spend on some 'just in case' insulation to keep in your bag, would you? ...
A/ Buy either of these
Haglofs Barrier 2 jacket - http://www.trekitt.co.uk/haglofs-barrie ... ds-haglofs
Marmot Baffin - http://www.theoutdoorshop.com/showPart.asp?part=PN20189
B/ Which one
C/ Buy something different
Down's a non starter due the intended purpose, pack size is actually more important than weight and the Marmot's at the top end of the price scale.

Re: Just in case insulation ... help me decide.
I've just got one of these:
http://www.thistribe.com/keela-belay-ad ... acket.html
It uses 100gsm Primaloft 1.
Not used it in anger, but did keep me warm in the snow with just a t-shirt underneath for 30mins the other week. Also pretty windproof.
Not from one of the big names, but I challenge you to find another Primaloft 1 jacket for similar money.
Worth having a look at (although may not be any better than the ones you've linked to)

Cheers Slackman ... what sort of size does it pack down to?

Re: Just in case insulation ... help me decide.
what weight of Primaloft does the Marmot have?
80g in the hags is good. I have a Berghaus Ignite (60g) which is great and packs small. I think you want to be looking at 60-80g fill weight of PL.
There are loads of these around.

Shame about the 50 quid part. My Montane Fireball is lovely...

I haven't tried to pack it down yet to see how small it goes. It would easily go in my 5ltr dry bag, and reckon I could get it into a 3ltr bag without too much struggle (not really sure how else to 'measure' how it packs)!

No brainier, Haglofs.
