NOS Thomson Elite stem to replace my old one that developed a nasty crack after 11K Kms.
Slime tubes in an attempt to counter the rampant hedge cutting that's going on about the place.
Extremities merino thinny gloves and windy glo's to see if layering works better than my ageing Sealskinz. Warm 'n wet, right folks? : )
New stove from Stu. Not that im officially allowed to see it for two weeks until my birthday.
However... A quick peek shows its really small, lightweight and loving the engraved bear on the base.
Thanks Stu!
Just finished installing it and seems to fit the bill. I should have gone for 20 mm more travel when I got the bike.
A comfortable bike just got even more comfy and most importantly I'll get more performance on the trail.
And it looks great.
Then I measured the chain and it needed changing. Seems that I've waited too long , new cassette and chainring on their way.

Tried tubeless?
Yeah...although with varying results.
Running Bonty 29.1's I was left with sealant spewing out in wet conditions on Cabin Pass/Wigwam Main Line in June...ended up going back to a tube and getting out of the Flathead Valley on that. Seems that Stans and water didn't cut the mustard. Stans also failed me on Bannock Rd when the rear tyre decided to delaminate; I suspect no amount of sealant would've held that one up. Fell back to tube a 2nd time. After switching to Nano's, tubeless held up fine for 1000 miles +. I guess I was unlucky.
Right now, I'm on my trusty vintage CFM3 with Mavic 217's...gonna run the Slimes for a bit and see if I'm not patching after every ride.
Parcel from Planet X/OO. Coolmax Thicky socks, ok but really low cuff compared to thicky merinos. XL Shoe covers, don't fit over size 45 MW81s. Belgian booties that do fit thank god, as do the padded shorts.

You can usually run the rings on either side of the spider (or run that side + a bashguard on the outer position). Usually depends on the chainline you need...
