New old bike, it's 29er time.

So, since the Lynskey is away for repair I have been going nuts with no bike. I had a very kind offer of the lend of a 456 but, its just not right not having a bike to call one's own The budget was somewhat restrictive, so it was time to crawl the classifieds. It was going to be either a sub £100 frame to just shift all the Lynskey 26" bits over onto, or it was going to be a full 29er at the right price. And up came this Gary Fisher 'Ferrous'-



The nicer parts have come from off the Lynskey, but the frame/wheels/forks/controls are new to me. It's my first 29er and I have to say I'm loving it. It's been ridden everyday since it arrived 10 days ago and I have finally dialled in the ride postion.

It's been on fast open double-track and tight twisty forest singletrack and so far it has been a revelation. Turns out 29ers aren't just 26" bikes with bigger wheels!

Make your pics 600 pixels wide ... the forum can only cope with pics a certain width.

I'm still not sure what the outcome of the Lynskey is :( If they come back to me with 'options' then I'm suitably impressed to consider a big wheeler.

But having said that, the Fisher would be great for general XC use and then rebuilding the Lynskey as a 120mm hardtail, 26" wheels, big tyres, 770 bars/70mm stem makes sense for a great Peaks/Lakes bruiser.
