Late Nov bothy walk help
Near the end of November the missus is off down the big smoke and I've a free weekend.
But I've got the dog and the nights are shorter.
So rather than ride with him running and getting lost in the dark a nice walk to a bothy would be good.
Please can you experts suggest one that ticks the following boxes?
Park car safetly
Safe walk by torch light
Avoiding tussocks and mountain passes
Nice bothy with a shutting bedroom door (to stop escapes)
Walk to a dog friendly place for breakfast/lunch
Then a nice route back to the car
Withing 2 hours of Liverpool
Anyone fancy joining me for a change from riding?

It an option but...
There is a better one within a few minutes walk. With fire place and stone bench/beds. I'll PM you a grid reference.

I thought the other one was the mba Warnscale Head bothy
They're not very from each other so you could always have a look at each before making your choice.
Bumped into someone at Moseale cottage a few weeks ago who reckoned that Warnscale was infested with mice, Archie could be kept busy there John!

Cheers Wotsit, Think I'll give them a miss then as he'll keep me up all night looking for mice. I think I'll head to Wales or try him at a beach biviWotsits wrote:I thought the other one was the mba Warnscale Head bothy![]()

New questions.
Which pub is near a nice beach to bivi by and I'll keep him in my tent.

Re: Late Nov bothy walk help
Your quite correct. I think the BB200 a weeks work and 'some' wine are cause a slight brain malfunction.
I did type out a detailed description which must have failed to travel over the 3G network earlier.
I stayed at wharnscale earlier in the year and didn't notice any mice. It has a stunning view diwn to buttermere from the window.
If you want to find it then google is your friend ;-)

Dulyn bothy
http://www.walkingforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=21967.0
Has two routes in and out that are quite good and a bit testing.
Or a park at the bottom and hike up and over shorter walk.
Done this bothy twice and it is excellent for night time star gazing.
Take you own fire wood and some candels

Did you try the fire when you were up there Ian? Heard I few negative comments about it & I'm looking at heading up there before the end of the year..ianfitz wrote: I stayed at wharnscale earlier in the year and didn't notice any mice. It has a stunning view diwn to buttermere from the window.

Dulyn bothy, Its a good clean bothy that John. There's 2 rooms each about 14ft square. There's a fireplace but as whats been said before you'll need to carry your wood/coal as there's diddly squat up there to burn. It can also be a popular spot for DofE groups so its a gamble having the place to yourself.
if you're walking, the main track to Melynllyn is far better than trudging through the boggy path in the valley itself
here's a little video of mine from last winter up that way

As long as you can put up with my little dog pacing the place not able to sleep as he's never done this before and Barney's snoring.

Hey john,
Can I suggest I meet you for a lift if possible at the Y Bedol pub which is at the turn of of conwyn road which is the start of a horribly steep hill that will take us up and then eventually down to the car park where you proposed to meet and in return il open the and close the two cattle gates along that way?
Cheers
