BB200 - Spectators Corner

Re: BB200 - Spectators Corner
3 major hike a bike sections, each probably 2 hours long. Even the sheep didn't venture into those swampy, boggy, tussocky wildernesses. And a bit of climbing (my garmin said something like 5300metres, and 227km.
That was a tough route, and definitely type 2 fun (is there a type 3 fun for stuff worse than type 2?).
Thanks Dee for the bacon sarnies - very welcome! And thanks Stu for making me appreciate sofas and TV, and for making me think of soapy pastimes.......

Any sign of Paul Marshall yet?

Ouchy!Chew wrote:Gairy - DNF
Managed 23 hours of riding (about 145km with a tiny 45 minute power-nap) before industrial nappy rash stopped play.
That course is brutal!
I know of a fair few people who'll be sending Stu the bill for PTSD counseling (for 'tussock-rage' induced psychosis).
What a day though. Great times, dark moments, bloody lovely people and some very imaginative interpretations of what constitutes a 'trail'.
I was going to offer a prize for the first person to punch me in the nose if I mention entering next year but my resolve is already weakening.
Well done to all who finished (and those still lost in tussock hell) and to Stu and Dee and crew (especially Matt for picking my sorry ass up in Bala) for some truly memorable chafing.

Plentytime of time still - Lantern Rouge last time (me & 2 others) was 40 hours or thereabouts. No point in rushing the adventure I say

I just tried to call him but it went straight to answer machine, lets just hope he's out of signal area or his battery has died and still going strong.

Giacomo
Great to meet you. Next time we will pick the right route of the hill and not the one one you have to walk down!
Sorry for lack of chat later that night / morning, I was just a bit tired!
Do you think the landlord has tidied that back room in the pub since we left??!!

I have nothing to add to Ian's statement!Ian wrote:That was hard.
Other than to say I had an incling at the summit of the woodland (after the very steep push up) 40km from the end that a black badge may still be on. That was at 7:20 and I finished at 9:49.
Average speed for whole route = 9:25kph. Average speed for last 40km =16kph
Hardest thing I've done on a bike.
Tired, sleep now.

Just spoken with Jason (Wotsit) and he's feeling OK even though he did use the word horrendous a few too many times.
He's got 35km still to ride but sounds in good spirits.

Re: BB200 - Spectators Corner
I guess Wotsit is now on an off road section East of Dolgellau and on route towards the A470, is the rest of the route on tarmac?

Re: BB200 - Spectators Corner
Ianfitz said above that the last 40km took him 2.5 hours and that was with him really upping his average.
Might be a little while yet.

Not sure I'm ever going to recover from that. I'm officially proper broken.Chew wrote:Carl Booth 9.03
Well done to wotsit, that is some resolve to be out there that long and plugging away. Think that deserves a black badge.
Congratulations to everyone who turned up and had a go, I don't think anyone was expecting anything quite as hard.
