which tyres for BB200

so I'm only on a full suss 26' and have limited tyre selection to chose from...

as a heavy 95K+ with a bagful of BB200 kit who likes to hare downhill I think my original tyre choice won't quite cut it with the wet conditions.
have 2 x new continental mountain king 2.2'' which I presumed would be fine but now not so sure.
also have good condition Maxxis minion 2.4 dhf and dhr which are great for trail centre and jumps but not very fast at all...
given the presumably very wet conditions am considering putting one of these on the front though to give me a little more float and more cornering grip
... or is that just asking for harder pedalling for 30 hours or more...?

To give you some idea, I'd be more than happy to ride it on Race Kings.
