A final run through some bits of this years BB200 route, forecast was good but the weather didn't hold its end of the bargain up so lots of low cloud and drizzle
Lots and lots of lovely rocky track cunningly located somewhere between the back of beyond and the middle of nowhere.
Map would indicate this ^ is a bridleway ... I'm not so sure

... and for all the bothy spotters, I came across this although it's not on route.
Would you say a nice light full suss 29er would be a good option

Well I'm screwed as my only alternative is a singlespeed which I haven't ridden for three months!
I'm not saying don't ride a crosser, I'm saying I wouldn't if I were given the choice. There will be bits where you'll curse it and there'll be bits where you'll be glad you brought it.
Which is probably the same for any type of bike. And probably a bike generally I'm guessing :)
Very true ... I've just returned from a very final last recce and people should be glad to know that the 2 miles of 'trail' I carried my bike over today won't be in the route. However the stream that's pretending to be a track certainly will be. If anyone had any thoughts about their feet* remaining dry please remove them from your mind.
*actually best just make that anywhere below the knee.
EDIT: Here's a little pic depicting the 2 mile carry. This was towards the end, so the knee deep tussocks had given way to waist deep ferns ... gotta love Wales

Edit 2: I remember cursing you on the WRT a couple of years ago when I encountered a bridleway supposedly linking one of the checkpoints to another. SH 824334. That was quite tussocky and wet.

If you look at on-line reviews they get a bit of a slating but in reality I wonder how much of that is to do with looks? I don't notice it's there most of the time, it weighs nowt and vents very well. I'll do a bit of a mini-review shortly.

That would be excellent! Im looking for a new helmet for my noggin and had stumbled across these on CRC! Also the tart in me is hoping the green matches my bear bones top
This is part of the problem of modern day convenience. We all want stuff cheaply and quickly, but it doesn't help when it comes to trying an item of clothing on first before making the purchase…
The only place I have ever seen Urge helmets in the flesh was in a bike shop in Hebden Bridge a year or two back, when we were visiting our middle son…

Actually I don't mind we didn't encounter thigh high ferns. We had the bungalow high wind fallen trees on day one instead... you're right, I might have gotten what I came for
