..., show me how you've used them to carry extra stuff.
I thought about getting some elastic cord and some sort of adjustable sliding clamp doohickey to stash some gear under.

Mine came with paracord and a slide lock. I also got the small mesh bag that can attach to it to put stuff in. Great bags.

I stuck an elastic cord on mine with a cord lock. Ran it in around the edges then across the middle so its a square with a cross if that makes sense?
Can stuff a jacket or drybag in it, and have used it to hold a D-lock which worked really well coz it kept it out of the way, but to hand.

Hmmm, mine didn't come with any of that stuff.

Mine didn't have any either, just used some I had already.
I tend to keep that sort of stuff "just in case", cut out of old bags/waterproofs etc. Come in handy to add extra compression or stuffage on all sorts of bags. Quite handy to just strap a water proof on to the bars too.

That's exactly what I did. Found some red elastic in Millets, which did the job beautifully and colour co-ordinated too :)mcmoonter wrote:..., show me how you've used them to carry extra stuff.

My memory is failing me. It didn't come with any, I had some paracord and cord-locks in my fabric drawer. Getting old.

The early Viscachas had no D rings, only some fabric loops.
I have a Spocket attached to mine.

Not the cheapest thing to use unless you have them kicking around but I have used old triathlon trainer laces (stretch cord & lock thing all come as a package) from a former life -

That's pretty much what I did, except I loop around a bit more to give more security to whatever's under the cord.

Mountainbaker, that's how I configured mine. All the bits arrived in the post this morning, took a minute or two to figure out the best the best routing.
