Grayl filter

Post by drain »

I spotted this on the Singletrack forum (sorry if I've missed it elsewhere on here!) - looks pretty good, and is available from Cotswold.

I've got the Sawyer Mini Filter which is great - I think that it only removes pathogens (the bugs) whereas this Grayl one also takes out nasties such as heavy metals. Guess the downside of the Grayl looks like weight compared to the Sawyer Mini.

That's quite clever but I'm put off by the fact the filter element's only good for 150L ... do we know how much it weighs? I couldn't see a weight on the website.

I have a water bag from Drink-safe systems.
Gets rid of all bugs and has a carbon element to remove chemicals and tastes.
I have drank really nasty smelling stagnant water through it and it tasted great with no ill effects.

Will be buying one of there bottles for on my bike.

Lasts a long time too as long as you use a millbank bag to get rid of any sediment.
Its a fine line between a cuddle........
And holding her down so she cant get away!

Aha - thanks for finding that weight, Ian, couldn't see it.

That DrinkSafe option sounds handy.
