Give me your Seam Sealing tips

Just recived a Solomid which now needs seam sealing. Never done it before and really don't want to make a dogs ear of it so has anyone got any top tips?

My top tip would be don't bother ... by that I mean first see whether any water actually gets through the seams. I've got plenty of shelters( ) that I've never sealed and don't leak ... break the hosepipe out.

If it does leak, the best bet is Sil-net mixed with mineral spirits as a thinner and paint it on from the inside.

Take your time, drink a bear, do it outside or in a (very) well ventilated room - white spirit is strong stuff

For my double rainbow I used GE silicone which is thicker than SilNet.
Pitch as you would do normally for camping. Use a paint brush approx the size of your seams and apply 2-3 layers. First layer should have consistency of olive oil (a bit thicker) in order for it to penetrate the seams, each next should be thicker than the last one. Take care when applying on stress points as these are the places where you're most probable to get leaks.

Sounds dangerous. Does the bear object to being drunk? Drunk bears could be bad for your tarp health...

Ha! I've been seamsealing in a closed room, got all dizzy from WS
