Iced lattes...

Post by voodoo_simon »

Probably a bit more singletrack type of question but any tried iced latte in their water bottles whilst out riding? Not sure about the milk on the stomach whilst riding but the sugar+ caffeine has potential?

Possibly the only time a 'coffee' like that is acceptable? : )

Chocolate milk partway through a long steady ride is wonderful stuff for me. Settles my stomach if anything.

I have a question regarding the whole chocolate milk thing ... is there any advantage to it being chocolate flavour? I hate chocolate milk but do like other flavours and plain milk. Do we say 'chocolate milk' in the same way we 'Hoover' when we mean vacuum cleaner, so we should really say 'flavoured milk'?

The chocolate milk study goes back a few years now. My recollection - could be wrong - was that people felt choco milk aided recovery better than others.

I can't really see how the flavour be it choc / strawberry / banana can make much difference to the basic product. And even if it does make a difference it is going to be minimal.. Say banana being 97% as good as chocolate but would you really notice? Maybe if you are racing all out then maybe you may see and gain the benefit but for most of us just glug back what they have.

I think milk is supposed to be an excellent recovery drink

Chocolate milk has loads of sugar in it so has fuel as well, any milkshake will work

Not chocolate is just odd though!

I always go for plain whole milk, really settles my stomach, which on long rides with lots of high sugar foods, gets pretty uncomfortable. Milk seems to neutralise the acidity of all that sugar.

Chocolate milk is wrong.

I go chocolate or strawberry. Get the flavoured for the added sugar. Halfway through or as a recovery drink is great for me.

Slightly off topic - but the Co-op have got new 'protein milkshakes' in at the mo, since they are new they are on a special cheapy deal...

I loved the chocolate milk "research" as when I drink it it's like being 5 again

Is anyone brave enough to try the new 'Weetabix breakfast drink'?

Iced lattes and chocolate milk?
Jeez, I thought I was on the wrong forum.

Cold milk, hot lattes or hot chocolate for me, but tea is my real favourite.

On both Saturday and Sunday on the WRT I bought a bottle of chocolate Frijj. Was delightful!
