Another Revo question..

Post by rufus748 »

Recently fitted mine and a question arises.
Even when at speed for lengthy periods the additional 2 led's (top and bottom) only come on to approximately half brightness compared with the first two, they seem to take ages to come on as well. I thought they generally cut in after a minute?
Wiring issue? (Although I've re done it three times now)
Normal?
Or faulty?

Mine does not behave like this so I would suggest that there is a fault somewhere.

Mine goes to 2 when stopped/going very slow, the rest of the time all 4 run at about the same brightness.

Are you using the SP hub?

Using the exposure hub that came with the light. I think it's a branded SP hub?

I demoed one and found I needed to be going ~ 15 mph before I got full lumens.

As richpips said - you need to be going at > 14mph to get full output from the 2nd set of LED's.
I thought mine were faulty as well when I got them but that's just the way they are made.

Ah, I thought the blurb said 12kmh. Not ideal for off road then....
I'm rigging it up to a volt meter tonight. Interested to see how that goes

Hmmm I always thought they were about the same on mine. I guess they can't be though. :-S

Are you sure 15mph? I remember doing plenty of night sections on the WC2C earlier in the year and doing something in the region of 10mph and having loads of light.

From my experience, 15moh sounds a bit high. Recon that 10-12 would be closer in reality for all 4 to start to come on.

I'm just waiting for SP dynamo 27.5" 15mm bolt through wheel to arrive and wondering if, to enable me to use Revo on my 26" for short outings, it'll run of my old 6v NiCad. Presume there's 6V AC from the dynamo and some rectifying circuitry in the Revo but on that basis would have thought Revo would run off the NiCad 6V DC (5 x 1.2V). Anyone tried it? Alternative is to convert something to get the 27.5" compatible with the 26" 9mm QR '99 Klein (new forks maybe  ).

Don't the 15mm sp hubs come with qr adapters? Failing that Nukeproof make them I think.
