Have you checked to see what the temp range of those magnets are? I'm sure it's 80 degrees which might be borderline if they're attached to the inside of the cone???
I managed to get some 0.2mm steel shim from RS through work. I downloaded the template from zen stoves.Pot from R and R backpacking and the lid from fourdog in america. Fits rather nicely in my tangle bag and more than big enough for little old me.

After several prototypes I used a simple fold to secure the shield together.

That titanium foil link looks interesting. Anyone got any/can comment on how suitable it looks?
At 0.05mm it's pretty (very) thin so probably wouldn't support a pot if made into a cone. I've got a Ti windshield in the workshop in the same thickness and the greatest difficulty is preventing it from blowing away

I still need to print out a template to see what size I need but fancied trying to make a small one for my 450ml mug. I saw Iain's first attempt melted so want to make sure it's the right thickness. It's to go with my 8g stove.

Just remember the 8g is designed to work with the mug directly on top, so any cone only needs to act as a windshield rather than a combined shield / pot support.

Could you get away with thinner material for the 8g stove, as it doesn't put out quite so much flame as the one that burnt through my 0.15mm foil?
Also, I note the Titanium Goat foil is 0.005" (0.127mm) thick, so thicker than the eBay stuff. I'll order some and see what it's like. My 0.25mm alloy is looking a bit tatty anyway.

I was planning to run it with a small gap (0.5cm) would this work ok? I'm still getting issues with putting the flame out when I put the mug on (admittedly usually in crappy conditions). It seems to burn fine when it's just sitting inside the windshield. I've used the pattern you sent with the stove for the windshield so I think there are enough air holes.
I figured a half cm gap would stop that and help with uneven ground when the mug doesn't sit well on the stove as it's so small. If it won't work with a gap I'll maybe need to rethink.

It'll still work with an air gap but the internal pressure will drop, so the flames from the jets will reduce in size. Also because the fuel is now burning in the stove and outside it'll use more fuel. Try and make any air gap as small as possible.
With regard to the stove going out, it's usually either putting the mug on a little too early or thinking that the thing's gone out when it hasn't ... there's a massive reduction in flame size when you first introduce the mug, which can often make it appear that the stove's out.
