Wedding and a bikepacking outing. I need suggestions please.

Post by Farawayvisions »

We are off to a wedding in Merseyside next weekend. We live on the south coast of England. Where oh where could we squeeze in some great cycling and an overnighter somewhere in Wales, pretty much on the route between Liverpool and Southampton? A loop would be cool 50 miles max. I may be a little hung over. :-)

Berwyns* would be my suggestion ... maybe a loop taking in the Wayfarer.

*I know you said between Liverpool and Wales but you might as well drive the few miles and cross the border.
May the bridges you burn light your way

Stuart, I just drank a bottle of wine and have edited my first post as it was a bit crappy. I will check this out gladly. Thank you.

I'd love to show you the highlights  of Merseyside riding next weekend, but it's the wife's 50th birthday on Sunday and we are going out on Friday night as well.

If you need any local knowledge just PM me and I'll try my best to help

There are the Clwyds and Clocenog Forest (GPX loops of both if needed) and if desperate there's always Llandegla

There's always Long Mynd, not too far off your route, easy to navigate and great fun to boot

These suggestions are fantastic. We'll look into them tomorrow. Thank you both so much. :-)

PS. We are cycling to the wedding ceremony in St Helens (not from Southampton though) and it is 50's themed affair. If you see us, please say hello. I shall keep my heels in my alpkit stem cell. Seems like such a good plan!

Ive got a route that starts in Llangollen and takes in wayfarer with option to camp or bivi. Little over your allotted distance at 55m but lots of cafe options. Day 2 is mostly on back roads, but very pleasant and little traffic.

PM me your email if you want the GPX

my local routes are the Clwyds, probably the closest you will get from Liverpool.

I've got .gpx files of quite a few routes, one of my favorites starts and finishes near Loggerheads which allows you to sample the delights of the White Horse pub (Cilcain) before you set off and the Caffi Florence when you finish at Loggerheads.

I'll pm you if you're not already inundated.
Wait for me...

We will be riding from a couple of miles away from St Helen's registry office for a ceremony at 5pm on Friday 13th.
