For day two: Just a reminder: cross the A34 on the little southerly detour, which uses an underpass rather than road crossing.
Re-instated ... it was in there after you mentioned it before, somewhere it got removed.

Also, at Littlecote manor, save yourself a small climb then descent to reach the same point, and cycle in the exit to the manor/hotel at the bottom of the hill. It's quiet and nobody will care about a cyclist seemingly going the wrong way as it's also a bridleway - the no entry signs are just for cars. I was at the mosaic the other day, doing basically a reverse of your day 2 route from Savernake forest, and it really is well worth a look!
Is the mosaic at Littlecote Manor? I guess I can google that..

Yes, it's in the corner of the grounds just off the bridleway route. Google earth you can see some of the remains of villa buildings, and the mosaics are under a roof.
- Mile 14.8 - stay high, turn left, then right over foot bridge follow round to right on the downland (you'll get a view over Winchester here) . Follow main track through a gate (or two) then when it opens out diagonally right towards the tree line find a gate and you're back onto the main track between the trees (Whiteshute Lane). Otherwise you'll have a steep drop and climb out to cross a busy road.
- Between miles 16.7 & 21.2 you've got a weird bounce
- Just before St Catherine's Hill there's a great cafe - Cadence Clubhouse/Handlebar Cafe, it's just before the cycleway drops down under the old railway line continuation.
- There's a chance the section at 27miles will be pretty over grown.

I'll send Gareth through first Presumably the descent to Lovington Lane @ 26 -26.5 miles... the stuff at 27 through Ovington is lanes....
