Replacement Scandal v2 dropout bolts

I have a problem with the bolts that fix the non-drive side dropout plate on to my Scandal v2, these things:

Basically, one of them is not tight, but it's seized so I can't tighten nor loosen it. The other one is also not tight enough, and while not seized, I can't get the stupid little spanner thing to stay in those grooves:

I was having all sorts of issues with my gears when I was away last week, and when I got back, I found the plate was so loose I'm surprised the bolts hadn't fallen out. I'm now worried it's damaging the mounting points on the frame, so intend to drill out the seized bolt. I just don't know what these things are called, so not sure where to get replacements from...?

Is it possible to get a variant that is hex keyed on both nut and bolt halves...?

Ah... Are these just repurposed chainring bolts...!?!

If they are chainring bolts, you can get a cheap pressed metal tool to engage the non-hex side.

They are chainring bolts. Drilling them out won't impact on the frame if you are careful....
Always worth sticking a heat gun on them before you do though.

I have one of those, I think the issue is part of the bolt, or nut, is just a smidge too long, so it knocks the spanner out of one of the holes. Either that, or the spanner I got from Wiggle, is just a bit site...

I think I have some spare chainring bolts kicking around, I'll have to check. Will break out the heat gun tomorrow, before I break out the big drill...

Whanged the Scandal onto the bike stand and had a rummage through the parts box. Turns out I'd saved a load of old chainring bolts, off various bikes and chainsets, in various states of (dis)repair. I have no idea why I have four brand new in placcy bag chainring bolts, no idea what I bought them for, or where I bought them from. 🤷

Thought I was going to be getting all sweaty trying to get that seized bolt out, but no. Maybe the nice weather did it for me, but the thing was only 🤬 loose! After a bit of humming and hawing, I decided not to file down the existing nuts, but use a pair of shorter nuts out of the spares box. All cleaned, lubed, and tightened up to 5 Nm, and for now at least, it's rock solid and doesn't move when you haul the rear brake on. Win!

I then noticed that I'd lost one of my chainring bolts from the actual chainring! 🤦

I knew these bolts weren't quite long enough, but they did at least seem to have been holding. Better safe than sorry, so I replaced them all with longer bolts, which are unfortunately not blue...

I'll give it a bumpy shake down ride either tomorrow or Thursday, as I need to pop into town and pick up a spare rear light for my trip to Oxford and back starting this weekend.
