WTD 29+ wheels

Post by faustus »

So, i've ended up getting a rather nice 29+ frameset, but I don't have any wheels to meet the spec yet. Looking for:
- Must have: Non-boost 100x15/142x12, rims 30mm internal minimum, HG freehub 29er
- Nice to have: silver hubs and/or rims, just a nice to have to go with the bars and stem. Black or grey or similar is fine. Prefer stickers that can be removed!
Preferably not too expensive and not much currently on ebay. Yes, i've seen the Spank wheelset in the classifieds, which are ideal except the hubs a red and they would clash badly with the frame colour. I'm no wheel builder, so swapping hubs isn't going to happen (and wouldn't be cost-effective).
Thanks!

Hi I have a front wheel - Halo Vapour 35 rim laced to a Hope Pro4 hub (both black) that I’d be willing to let go for £100.

The hub is set up as boost but I think I have a non boost set of end caps I can provide so you’d just need to redish the wheel.

It's not for a speedball by any chance 🤣🤣.

I did ummm and aaaar about it myself but having three stooges is kind of funny but a bit beyond the pale. I did make a set of wheels up for it but they are both boost🤣🤣🤣🙀🤦🤦.

Silly bugger I am 😂😂.

You will have to post a photo of the finished bike, just to make me sad. First dibs if you don't like it 😂😂😂
Cheers

Yeah, they would be ideal and I checked them out, but it's a plum grape colour speedball, so it's just not going to go - esp with silver components...silly that it's aesthetics, but I want it to look right. Cheers!

Hi I have set of black Hope pro 4 hubs non boost on Halo Vapour 50 (45mm internal). I used to run them on my Surly Krampus with 3inch tyres.
I think rear needs new bearings but front is good. I could dig them out and sent you some pics. I will let them go cheap.

Thanks @Kuman - those sound decent, but I think 45mm is going to be a stretch for the 2.6 tyres i have/intend to use. Sorry, I'm being a bit goldilocks with colour and sizes here, somewhat narrowing my options!
