Salsa cutthroat frame bag

Post by Mr conners »

After buying a bargain cutthroat from Lyon equipment I now seem to be making myself skint again buying bags be strap to it. Does anyone have a recommendation for a framebag as it be seems salsa don't do the bespoke version for a 56cm size frame.
Cheers

Ah such a shame, I'm s3lling mine but it's for a 58cm frame.

I'm getting a new one made and I can report on how it goes unless you're in a hurry

If you don't mind that would be great, no plans for touring with it until Xmas.

What's the dimensions on that frame bag Valerio? Been thinking of one for my 57.5cm stormchaser....

I'm afraid it's already been claimed on the Salsa FB group, but if the buyer doesn't go through I'll send you the details.

FYI you can find the frame measurements on Salsa website (they published drawings to help bag makers)

I've received my new frame bag (and sold the MissGrape one) and I'm very happy with how the new bag turned out.

It might be a tad heavy but fits the frame perfectly, doesn't bulge out, feels bombproof, and Steve who made it really listened to what I had in mind and followed my sketches and drawings.

I won't name and shame but previous experience with one-man-band UK bag makers was pretty poor (overpriced bags, charging fees for "consulation", poor communication, order being cancelled right before a big event, limited personalisation choice).
I had a completely different experience with Steve.

If you need a bag i really recommend you reaching out to Steve info@moattsails.co.uk

I cant work out how to post images here but I've posted a couple on my Instagram @vale.stuart

Ah, I've one of theirs on the front of my fattie from when they were trading as 'Spoked UK'. I met and rode with Harry who works or worked there while riding the Dales Divide. And yeah top quality service and bag.

Alpkit do a bespoke service. I've just got one and it is great. There was a discount too. Might still be on the website. It was cheaper than the kinda-fitting Apidura of-the-shelf frame bag I was considering initially.

When I spoke with Alpkit about doing a frame bag a couple of years ago it seemed they had not done bolt-on bags before so I went with someone else. In hindsight it would have been fine I'm sure.

I've owned 3 full frame bags and that Apidura bag is the single worst piece of kit I've ever owned.
It failed twice even after being repaired, it flooded every time I used it overnight. So glad I managed to sell it.

You're not the first I've heard say that. It's odd how some brands become de rigueur despite being no better than the alternatives. Right time, right place, right influencers I guess.

Exactly. Right time, good marketing strategy, and suddenly they're the go-to-bag.
I can only assume most of their products are good considering the success theyve had, but my experience with that bag was so bad that I wont touch them ever again.

Best frame bag I ever had was the official Salsa one for the Spearfish. Made by Revelate designs.

Was totally waterproof including multiple river crossing immersions down Glen Feshie after all the bridges were washed away.
