you like to call this time of year. I think it's been a odd one in many ways and I don't think I'm alone in thinking that ... so, whether you're all about tinsel and turkey or simply grateful for a couple of days off work, i hope you enjoy it.
Here's to the next one and may the sun shine for more than two consecutive days
Merry Christmas, Nadolig llawen, Wesołych Świąt Lu, Frome Weihnachten Verena, and to anyone else
We go out into the hills to lose ourselves, not to get lost. You are only lost if you need to be somewhere else and if you really need to be somewhere else then you're probably in the wrong place to begin with.
Just got in from milking 427 cows so it’s just another day with the added bonus of been able to demolish a tin of shortbread without anyone complaining
Feliz Navidad from Cabo de Gata in deepest Andalusia, 7 hours drive due south from cold and windy Cataluña got us calm conditions and a 5° increase in temperature. Amazing gravel trails that I dimly remember from the Badlands event, home on Saturday for New Year's Eve paella with friends.
Two family gatherings done, one pantomime ticked off (actually, I enjoyed that one) and one more family party to attend and then I can settle down and start to enjoy the holidays
I find it incredibly stressful seeing everyone over Christmas, both sides of the family are lovely but feel it’s just too much effort to be in crowded houses and having a ‘good time’
Bike ride done today, so feel happier. Roll on Sunday and a week still off to enjoy

That's what I like about this time of year, the weather may be a bit yuk outside but it's a decent chunk of time off work, and since the place pretty much shuts down over Christmas I can rest easy there won't be a massive pile of emails to deal with when I start up again in the early NY!
Hoping for a bike ride in the next few days, and who knows I might even manage an overnighter around NYE

I'm not a Christmas fan - never really have been. However, I enjoyed it this year, how so? you ask. Well, simply because it didn't happen. There was no sign of Christmas at the Towers, no decorations, presents, special food, cards, twinkly lights or owt else. It wasn't the lack of those things that made it pleasurable but the lack of pretence ... not once did I feel like I had to pretend to be enjoying something I wasn't, which for me, actually makes me miserable but remove that and all's good
