Yeah we have a station in Ludlow and we’re only one stop / short ride to Craven Arms and the start of the Heart of Wales line and all its interesting stops. I love doing this, having previously got trains to Leominster / Hereford / Church Stretton / Shrewsbury and ridden home. good suggestion. Would definitely be up for more of this.
You really must take a journey out to Sugar Loaf Halt then, it's on the Heart of Wales line. Smallest platform in UK I believe, just don't doze off on the way
Great choices for riding back too; just make sure it's train out, ride back just in case you can't flag the train down
Noooo-o-o-o-o! "Visit every UK railway station request stop with your bike". Unsurprisingly there's also a huge overlap between those and "least-used stations in the UK". I've had a fantastic time disembarking at Shippea Hill, Sugar Loaf, Tonfanau (off, then back on again with the next train!), Berney Arms, and many others. Get off the train, wait for it to disappear, then just sit there in the silence for as long as you wish. Happily there's frequently an eccentric boozer just round the corner afterwards. I still require the daddy of them all - Denton. The trouble is that, now, they are a "thing", and the previous year's least-used station becomes a "well-used" station the following year, due to all the "least-used station baggers" visiting it!!
