I’m tempted by the jacket at that sale price. Large seems huge though compared to the medium which I’m at the top end of the sizing for. Anyone know their say Endura sizing equivalent?

FYI - they are called a pair of trousers because way back in the days of yore we wore hose. Each leg was seperate hence ‘a pair’. The French are more up to date with ‘un pantaloon’.

Fingers crossed I guessed right when they arrive this week, they need to be a bit big to be used as an over trousers I guess

Little update from me.

Last weekend we walked to a mountain hut in Snowdonia and back in Storm Darragh.
It was nothing technical, just a bit blowy.

I got home and found this little hole just below my right pocket


I don't catch it on anything, my backpack and buckles were nowhere near it. I've got no recollections on how it could have possibly happened.

I've had several Outdry jackets and they have been bomb proof.

What pissed me off most was Columbia's reply to my email asking if there is anything that they could do to help me.
They simply said that I could send it back unused, in it's original condition and with the tags still attached, where they would assess the mark and get back to me.

For god sake, They are used I told them, and they said that there was nothing that they could do for me, bye and the email chain has died.

To say I'm a little pi$$ed off is an understatement.
I know it's an easy repair with a small square of Duct tape on the outside and inside, but that's not the point.

I'm going to add that on their first outing, mine have got a couple of gouges on the lower legs. I think I might glue on some cordura.

Update, after a very pi$$ed off reply back to the contact there, I was sent a UPS collection label to send them back FOC.
God knows what's going to happen to them once they get back and how long they will take to make the call.
Hoping for a quick turnaround and a new trouser sent in replacement.

Pissed off update.

I sent these trousers back for swap stating this clearly from day 1 of my return, they are in transit back to Columbia as I type this.
Columbia this afternoon now tell me that they don't exchange, and that they will credit me back the cost, then if I want to buy them again I just order on line.

The main problem is that I bought them on Black Friday for £126 and now they are back at their full price of £180

I emailed back my displeasure at this offer and asked then to just to return the faulty trousers back to me to patch.

What is didn't tell them is that I now I've seen them in the fresh and had this problem with them, that I feel that they are not worth £180.
If I get a refund I'll wait to see if they are in a Boxing Day sale, If not I'll make do with the ones that I already have.

Happy to be corrected, but I don’t think—sales of goods act and all that—they can do this. They entered into a contract with you to supply them at that price. What they are now selling them for is irrelevant.

I’m not sure they sound worth even the £126 from the feedback so far! I was tempted but got worried about the sizing.

John, I had a similar situation with Arcteryx (and from the sounds of you wanting to replace instead of money back) which were also really really comfortable. The Arcteryx (boots) had started delaminating after just 3 months of use. After a good old email-match with the rep they decided they'd get em in for assessment (or something like that) and then I waited another 9 months for a replacement.

If it was me, I'd just count your losses, get back your money and buy some 2.5 or 3 layer waterproof Mountain Hardware or Mountain Equipment overtrousers. Much more durable, suggested to me by the outdoor shop up near Elland and are still going strong 3 or 4 years later.

Nor are they scrunch and very very breathable/comfortable. Every (extended) downpour I've used em in, they perform immaculately. Maybe one day (on the subject of Arcteryx) I'll buy another pair of their shoes. But for the prices v longevity I'm holding out (for a very long time it seems).

Anyway, very sorry for your situation mate. Extremely frustrating (and infuriating).

My Mountain Equipment Rainfall (Drilite membrane which the specialist outdoor shop vouched was the one for me and cycling) pants about 4 years and maybe 1000 miles (of rain/sit timw) later. Not trying to convince, but the best £90 I ever spent on hiking/biking outdoorsy trousers.







Oh, and from my experience (bought and managed through Trekkit, it was a collaboration of the two) of a leaking/prematurely scuffed 3 layer jacket - which they replaced no problems and then I used for 3 years and gave it to a friend - I'd say they value their customers alot more than many (not mentioning Alpkit/Sonder nor Arcteryx here btw ).
