WTD Narrow riser bar, short stem

Post by thenorthwind »

Looking for a riser bar for my pub/polo bike, so nowt fancy - the whole bike cost me £40.

Something with a bit of rise, old school width, 600mm would be fine (but can obviously cut down). Strong preference for silver colour though! Not fussed on stem clamp, since I also need...

A short stem. 40mm probably ideal - probably limiting me to 31.6mm clamp.

A variety of alloy bars all probably 700+ and all black.
Cover postage and they are yours

Dace, as I was looking in the shed for Tony's cassettes needs I found a lovely Specialized stem that you could have. But then checked and you need a 40mm. This is actually 90mm, sorry. There is another Shimano Pro (Thor I think) sat there on the hooks but that must still be at least 50mm or 60mm. Sorry, no help whatsoever, but it was the thought that counts. :-bd

Here we go. Since I spent the time actually finding the centres to measure it. It's 60mm and this one.

I'm sure I have a 60mm silver 25.4 stem somewhere. 2 bolt faceplate. Any use / worth going into the spares vault of dispair for?

Manitou Answer. Any good? Will check out the width and grab some pics if it is. Looks oversized clamp size.

Could be interesting, but they look like they might be worth actual money to retro folk! What length please?

Sorry, I meant Answer Expert ProTaper, whatever...

Anyway, attached to a Thomson for dramatic effect. Won't try to calculate back/upsweep but have tried to picture it by tightening it dead centre on the stem face plate thingy.

785mm is what I get edge to edge, not sure how you feel about cutting that down to 600. But, a quick measure and it doesn't look like your reaching the taper bit if you did. So you're good to make it look ugly at your own leisure.

Retro price, no one (I meant hardly anyone) ever buys stuff off me at cheap prices, never mind retro. Am a member at RetroBike but not used for years and it's just another 'rabbit hole' innit.

You can have em if you like em, if you wanna pay me a few quid for em then even better for me :-bd and I reckon I can get postage squeezed down to about £6 (but, in any case I'll try to get it economy del and postage at cost).

I'd have attempted to hand deliver em but one of these days my knees will just blow out!

NB, I know I might be missing the opportunity of clearing out some stuff and making a few quid. But there is a Specialized Stout on flyaway at 40mm with a flat Tifosi bar. Only £10 with £3 del. Dunno how they'll pull that delivery off, but the seller has it on best offer too.
