Headstock 500 (Bikepacking Event / Route)

Post by Richard G »

Anyone ever heard of this before? I was looking on the Apidura event page and was surprised to find this starting literally 5 minutes from me.

Based on my knowledge of the trails down here, it looks like a half decent route (and ventures into areas most BBers will be familiar with).

First edition was this year, it looks good although runs on a very busy weekend with lots of other events.

I haven't seen recaps/photos from this year’s edition, I'd be curious to find out more.
Not a fluffy gravel rider.

Probably not in the spirit of the thing, but I was looking at it thinking I could turn it into a three day ride with stops at Knighton and Llanwrtyd Wells.

Ha, I've ridden enough of those trails to know that there's very little in there you'd describe as "easy miles".

I did it this year. Got a far as llandovery and called it a day due to trench foot and general lack of energy 😩. I really enjoyed it but Was twice as hard as I expected, but then again I'm not that experienced yet. Have signed up again for next year tho. I'm in Risca so was a short down hill ride to start then back past my house on route, should have bailed then 😛

Thanks Zane. I'll have to check some parts of it out when we get a decent period of dryish weather.
